Microfinancing

The Africa Expedition wanted to create awareness of microfinancing through its adventure. It did so in collaboration with Wakibi and Kiva. Both Jeffrey and Twan come from an entrepreneurial background and study at Business School Notenboom. Microfinancing means financing entrepreneurship, and the two friends see this as one of the most efficient means of development aid. Once they came across Kiva, they became even more enthusiastic when they heard about an organisation introducing this concept into the Netherlands. This was Wakibi. On its website, it is possible to identify an entrepreneur to support with a small loan. This would then mean that you are actively involved in managing your charitable donations, which is the main difference to other forms of charity; you can give the same euros many times over.
